How to Prepare for Windows 7 End of Life
The term “end of life” simply means the program developer is ending support for a hardware or software product including security updates and customer service. In other words, the provider will no longer fix flaws and bugs. If you continue to use the product, you are violating HIPAA compliance.
Adapt to the upcoming changes by following the three steps below:
1. Identify Devices Using Windows 7
Identify all servers or workstations that need to be upgraded or replaced. You may contact your IT provider to assist you in identifying these machines.
2. Plan for Replacements
Develop a timeline and budget for upgrades and replacements. The official ‘end of life’ date for Windows 7 and Server 2008 is January 14, 2020. We advise you make the appropriate adjustments well before the deadline.
3. Implement Windows 10 Pro
Replace all systems using Windows 7 and Server 2008 or older with updated technology – Windows 10 Pro and Server 2012.
